The tank, pump, filter, and chlorinator — a walkthrough of every stage of aerobic treatment.
Read the guide →The basics
An aerobic septic system treats household wastewater using oxygen-driven biological breakdown, followed by disinfection — a more thorough treatment cycle than a traditional anaerobic system.
The stages, in order:
Emergency-adjacent
Aerobic system alarms activate when something needs attention. Start with these steps before you call:
01
Silence the alarm (don't ignore it)
Press the alarm silence button. The light stays on — that's fine. Silencing doesn't clear the fault, only the sound.
02
Check for the obvious
Power outage recently? Aerator running? Any water backing up inside the house? Note what you observe.
03
Reduce water use
Hold laundry and dishwasher loads until the fault is diagnosed. Don't force load onto a struggling system.

Refills
We stock tablets appropriate for aerobic chlorinators and can supply refills during a scheduled maintenance visit. Ask us about the tablet type your system uses.

If we installed or service your system, we likely have your original documentation on file. Send us the property address and we'll send a replacement copy.

Building or replacing? Start with a site walk so we can size the system, evaluate disposal options, and prepare the permit application together.
